Winter Warmer

Wednesday night we had a very pleasant evening at the Cwtch with Chris and Julie. We got to St. Davids about 6pm, had a few drinks and canapes at theirs before heading over to the restaurant. They are running a special "Winter Warmer" menu on Wednesday to Friday changing each week, 3 courses for £18.

Despite it being a Wednesday it was really busy as they had an unplanned table of 12 turn up. This led to a few delays but nothing major and personally I don't mind waiting a while when the company and the ambience are as good as it is in the Cwtch. The fact they threw in a bottle of wine for free to make up for the inconvenience was also much appreciated. The set menu was Leek, potato and pearl barley broth, followed by Welsh Black Beef casserole with garlic mash and yorkshire puddings and finished off with Mulled Wine poached pears. Unfortunately by the time we got to dessert the pears had all gone so we got to choose form the normal menu. Three of us had lemon sorbet with a shot of vodka while Noel pigged out on Bara Brith bread and butter pudding with lashings of fresh cream.

It was a lovely evening and a real treat mid week (sometimes shift work does have its advantages). Thursday morning Noel had a few jobs to look at in St. Davids so I went swimming with Julie in St. Davids pool, it is slightly smaller than Milford but only 5 metres and we did an amazing 70 lengths, far more than I am used to doing but I was very pleased with myself.

On the downside of things, when I got home about mid-day it was to discover that I had lost my internet connection at home. I am not sure whether it is a problem with the router or an AOL issue. I am waiting for John (my tame computer chappie) to come and have a look at it, hopefully it will be back soon, otherwise the men in white coats will be coming to take me away very shortly!!
