A More Objective View

I have calmed down.
I am sober.
I can now be objective about last night's defeat.
We were beaten by the better side.
We did not deserve to win.
We should be grateful their kicking was a bit off. It could have been a lot worse.

It was a bloody good try by Lee Byrne though!!(see pic).

As for today, I am torn. If the Saes win then Ireland can't get the Grand Slam either, but how good would it be to rain on Ireland's parade in the last match in Cardiff. I think I shall have to go for the latter option as I just can't bring myself to support the Saes.

Sulking

Not amused... not wanting to talk about it. Not wanting to support the e...en.. eng..... I can't say it but if they win tomorrow its good for us... bugger, bugger, bugger... this was not supoosed to happen tonight we were supposed to be the favourites... I hate going into things as the favourites, we are much better being the underdog.

This guy looks like he should live in a cave somewhere in northern France!!

I am not happy... I have to work tomorrow. Maybe its time I went to bed!!

Well I never

Remember I said I was really enjoying watching the re-runs of Poldark lately. Well it is now into the second series and the introduction of Drake Carne, Demelza's younger brother. When I watched it the first time round in the 70s I had a major crush on him. He was just my type, dark and brooding. I thought he was georgeous (and terribly wasted on the soppy Morwenna!!)

Anyway I never really paid any attention to who the actor was until the credits came up this morning and I was flabbergasted to discover that it was Kevin Mcnally... better known these days as Johnny Depp's sidekick in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies!!

I now feel very old!!

The Frailty of Life

I came into work tonight to the news that the partner of one of our pilots had suffered a brain haemorrage this afternoon and passed away this evening, aged 47.

Not much I can say really, I am still feeling a bit numb. It never fails to amaze me how a life can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye. Life is frail, life is short and we should all try and live it to the full.. as the saying goes "You are a long time in that box!"

Druidston

You've probably heard me mention before the Druidstone Hotel. It is one of our favourite places to eat. Its really off the beaten track, perched on top of the cliff above one of Pembrokeshire's loveliest beaches (see pic).

We went for a bar meal last night after work, we shared our starters of nut filled mushrooms and greek style lamb kebabs, then I had braised brisket of beef with mashed potatoes and Noel had sausage and mash with locally made sausages and lashing of onion gravy, both were delicious, real comfort food!

Anyway enough culinary blogging. Following Carol's architectural blog I thought you might like to see this strange "Eco" house which is next to the Druidstone Hotel. It was built in 1998 and is known locally as the "Teletubby House" for obvious reasons. If anyone wants to see more pics of it or get more information it is called "Malator" and can be easily googled.

Thomas Llewellyn

Some of you might remember that in June 2007 the Smith family decamped to the south coast to attend a wedding in Brighton.

That was the marriage of Noel's first cousin Michael to Sarah and a brilliant weekend away it was too. So Just over a year on Mike and Sarah were happy to announce the arrival of Thomas Llewellyn Prickett in September, 2008. They have visited Wales on numerous occasions but today was the first time they had come to Milford and I had been home to meet Thomas.

He is gorgeous as you can see. Five months old tomorrow and a really bonny little man. I had lots of cuddles and caught up with all the gossip from Mike and Sarah, who moved to Cardiff a few months ago. Unfortunately it has not worked out very well work wise and they will be moving back to Brighton soon.

So basically my half day off today has been spent drinking wine, cuddling babies and generally not doing much. We have just ordered a takeway and no doubt later we will end up in the hot tub then tomorrow morning it is back to work yet again. Life's a bitch!!
